Insurance Benefits Check
The majority of Practice Health Daily clients are covered by their insurance plans to receive nutrition counseling benefits free of cost or at drastically subsidized rates.
If you’re unsure about whether your insurance covers nutrition counseling, there are a few steps you can take.
In-Network Insurance Options
As a registered dietitian Practice Health Daily has worked to be in-network with six major insurance providers.
Currently, Practice Health Daily is in-network with:
-
Aetna
-
Anthem BlueCrossBlueShield
-
Cigna
-
Highmark
-
IBX
-
United Healthcare
If you have any of the above insurance providers you should be eligible to receive nutrition counseling services as long as they’re included in your plan.
The best method for determining your nutrition counseling coverage is checking the back of your insurance card for the contact information to pre-certify for healthcare services.
Pre Certifying for Nutrition Counseling
When you locate the number to contact your insurance provider to precertify services there are a few questions you should ask like:

-
Does my insurance coverage include any outpatient nutrition therapy, diabetes self-management, or preventative care nutrition counseling?
-
If yes, what codes are covered by my insurance plan?
-
If no, are there any out-of-network benefits?
-
-
Does my insurance currently cover telehealth appointments?
-
Do I need a referral from my physician to receive nutrition counseling services?
-
How many sessions are covered per year, and what month does my policy renew?
-
Do I have a deductible for nutrition counseling services?
-
If yes, how much is my deductible, and how much of it has been met?
-
-
Are there any other limitations to my coverage I should know about?

You should also write down the name of the insurance representative you spoke with and request a reference number for your call.
This information will help should there be any future disputes about the nutrition counseling coverage included in your plan.
